Synopsis:  Story starts viewer in the middle of war.  Rebel forces are fighting against the evil Emporer and his troops.  Tales of a new destructive weapon reach their knowledge and it is decided that it must be destroyed.  A young farm boy joins an old Jedi General in an attempt to get the information to the proper rebel authorities.  They are shuttled by a space merchant/smuggler.  En route, they run across the Princess of Alderan and free her from Empire clutches.  After delivering the information the Rebels decide to mount an  attack to destroy the weapon.  The farm boy, Luke, and his rouge smuggler friend, Han end up destroying the superweapon.
In the sequel, Luke is sent by vision to seek out a Jedi Master named Yoda to refine his abilities in the force.  Han, whom Jabba the Hut has sent bounty hunters after, is on the run and ends up taking refuge with a not so friendly friend Lando.  Lando betrays Han to the Emperer's right hand man Darth Vader.  Vader fights a battle with Luke who returns to try and help his friend and reveals that he is Luke's father.
In the concluding film, rumors of a second secretweapon surface.  The rebels prepare to make a "suprise" assult.  Luke is captured by the enemy and forced to face the Emporer and Vader while his friends assult the Death Star.  In final confrontation Luke and his father battle, with the battle ending by Vader turning to the light and hurling the Emporer to his death.

Evaluation:  This film series succeeds on many levels while still retaining the basic simplicity of an Aristotilian plot scheme.
